Take Control of Your Health (Part 1)

Being well and healthy is certainly a goal most people have, and it’s part of being prepared for any emergency.  Doing all the good things—like eating the right foods, developing good habits, avoiding things that are known to be harmful as well as positive thinking—are not always enough to get us to where we want to be.  Instead of giving up, looking outside conventional medicine can lead us to other solutions, which may benefit us now and even more so in the future when the grid is down.

Dr. Williams’ expertise, developed in remote areas of Thailand without access to conventional western medicine and improved through his continued research, includes some ideas similar to other researchers but also some unique health and wellness technologies with which he has experienced some spectacular results.  He will share information about things we can do to boost our bodies to another level of wellness.

Tuesday, May 31st.

9:00-10:00PM CT: Self-Reliant Living by Safe Harbor Alliance, hosted by Jim Phillips.

Tonight’s topic: Adventures in Preparation. To be prepared in ways you have never been prepared before, you have to learn, experiment, and do things you’ve never done before, even if it means failing and trying again. The worst time to learn how to put on a parachute for the first time is when the plane is on fire, or in other words, don’t wait until you are in the middle of a do-or-die situation to learn how to save your household.

Tonight’s guest Lori Pratt talks about her adventures and some of the new things she is trying in her quest to be prepared–things she has never done before and perhaps only a handful of people alive in this country have ever done, such as milking sheep and making cheese.

Tuesday, May 24th.

9:00-10:00PM CT: Self-Reliant Living by Safe Harbor Alliance, hosted by Jim Phillips.

Tonight’s topic: The Tipping Point. Jim Phillips and geopolitical analyst Keats Horstmann discuss current global trends of consumerism, personal and national debt, wants vs. needs, banks failures, foreclosures, inflation, and isolationism along with how political stress, social upheavals, and militarism around the world are bringing the world economy to a critical tipping point and how the coming upheavals may affect you in your own hometown. The proposed solution is to prepare for whatever the future brings, become self-reliant, and build community.

Self-Reliant Living 05-17-2011

Tuesday, May 17th.

9:00-10:00PM CT: Self-Reliant Living by Safe Harbor Alliance, hosted by Jim Phillips.

Tonight’s topic: Practical Solar Electric Solutions. Electrical power is an extremely important “tool” that makes so many things in our lives work far better and definitely much easier. It is described as “the golden thread that weaves our society together.” Electricity is almost magical in its ability to multiply our efforts and make things much more efficient (more work done in a given period of time). So is there a practical and cost-efficient means to supply electricity when the grid is down?

Tonight’s guest Drew Blad, alternative energy expert and owner of NRGSolar.com, will discuss what your primary choices are for powering your most important electrical devices, including the advantages and disadvantages of each, and then focus on practical portable solar electric systems you can buy or build.
